Michael Avenatti Pleads Not Guilty To Nike Extortion Accusations

Michael Avenatti is accused of attempting to extort up to $25 million from Nike by threatening to reveal claims of improper payments to college basketball recruits. The indictment against him was amended, dropping two conspiracy counts but adding a charge of honest services fraud. Nike denies any wrongdoing. Avenatti, already facing other criminal charges, is set to go on trial on January 21, 2020.
