U.S. Jobless Claims Fell To 787,000 Last Week

The Labor Department reports a decrease of 55,000 in unemployment claims from the previous week. Currently, 8.4 million people are receiving unemployment benefits, a drop of over 1 million. Despite this, the unemployment rate remains high at 7.9%. Many recipients are only receiving state payments as the federal supplement of $300 per week has ended in most states.
