VOICED : Kenyans heal devastated land with the power of mangroves

In Kenya, local communities and volunteers are actively working to restore mangrove ecosystems, which have been severely depleted due to logging and resource extraction. Historically, these areas were rich in wildlife, but over 80% of mangroves have been lost. Mangroves are crucial as they absorb more carbon than terrestrial forests and protect against coastal erosion. Restoration projects, supported by the UN, are cost-effective and show promise as conservation groups and volunteers plant thousands of mangroves, aiming to reclaim land and encourage forest regrowth.
