The canal is now capable of accommodating large vessels with depths up to 66 feet, making it the fastest navigation route globally. This development poses a challenge to the Panama Canal, which has seen reduced income due to the Suez Canal's expansion. However, Panama has also expanded its canal to regain some of the maritime trade.
