The conflict in northwest Syria has led to the displacement of over half a million people in two months, marking one of the largest exoduses since the Syrian conflict began in 2011. The province of Idlib and its surroundings have been subjected to daily attacks by the Assad regime, supported by Russian airstrikes, resulting in significant civilian displacement towards the Turkish border. Idlib is largely controlled by the jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, with some rebel presence, and the ongoing offensive has caused numerous civilian casualties and widespread destruction.
