Corona

The solar corona is an extremely hot plasma with temperatures exceeding 1,000,000°C, much hotter than the Sun's visible surface at about 6,000°C. It is typically visible from Earth only during a total solar eclipse. The Sun's magnetic field causes the corona to be unevenly distributed, concentrated in some areas and nearly absent in others.
