TED-Ed: The myth of Loki's monstrous children | Iseult Gillespie

Odin, the King of Asgard, is tormented by nightmares of three fearsome figures linked to Loki. Despite Loki's settled life, his affair with Angrboda results in three children: Jormungandr, Hel, and Fenrir. Odin sends Thor and Tyr to capture them. Back in Asgard, Odin banishes Jormungandr and Hel but struggles with Fenrir, who grows powerful. Odin attempts to bind Fenrir with chains, but only succeeds with the magical Gleipnir, crafted by dwarves. Fenrir, feeling betrayed, bites off Tyr's hand. Though Odin celebrates, his actions set the stage for future doom as Jormungandr and Hel rise in power, and Fenrir strains against his chains, seeking revenge.
