VOICED : Blindaje militar en capital salvadorena contra pandillas

In El Salvador, 400 soldiers have been deployed to dangerous areas in the capital to combat gang violence. Their mission is to reclaim zones controlled by gangs that extort and murder. Equipped with U.S. assault rifles and armored vehicles, the force will increase to 1,000 by July to support police in public security tasks. Official figures show over 2,700 violent deaths in the first five months of the year, surpassing the same period in 2015. El Salvador's gangs have about 70,000 members, with 13,000 incarcerated.
