Scientists find cluster of underwater lakes on Mars

Recent research published in Nature Astronomy reveals the discovery of subglacial lakes beneath Mars' south pole, using radar data from the Mars Express orbiter. Initially, a large lake was found, followed by three additional salty lakes. Despite Mars' low atmospheric pressure, which prevents surface liquid water, these lakes may exist due to high salt content. The conditions are similar to subglacial lakes on Earth, suggesting potential for life remnants from when Mars had a more hospitable climate.
