The Chernobyl disaster on April 26th involved 600,000 rescue workers, known as liquidators, who faced extreme radiation risks. Photographer Igor Kostin documented the scene, highlighting the unprecedented danger. Many liquidators suffered severe health issues, with some dying shortly after. Despite limited government support, associations provide financial aid to victims. The workers remain committed to their sacrifice, willing to risk their lives again for others.
