In 1957, President Eisenhower sent troops to enforce the Supreme Court's ruling on desegregation, allowing nine African American students, known as the Little Rock Nine, to attend Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Despite opposition from some community members, the students represented a significant step in the civil rights movement. Their journey marked both an end to segregation and a new beginning, as they were closely watched to see if they would seize their opportunity and how history would judge their actions.
