The International Committee of the Red Cross initiated humanitarian aid deliveries to the besieged Syrian cities of Madaya, Fuwa, and Kafraya. In Madaya, 42,000 people have been under siege for six months, leading to severe hunger. A convoy of 44 trucks left Damascus for Madaya, while 21 trucks headed to Fuwa and Kafraya, besieged by rebels. Since December 1, 28 people have died of hunger in Madaya, where residents face extreme desperation, resorting to eating grass and paying high prices for scarce food.
