Why are Snakes so Creepy?

Our ancestors developed a predator recognition system to escape threats, but it failed against snakes. Over time, primates evolved specific neurons for snake detection, which were passed down to humans. Our brains show heightened activity when viewing snakes, indicating a strong threat response. Some researchers suggest our color vision evolved partly to spot snakes, and this sensitivity may contribute to a fear of snakes.
