Oregon is located north of California, bordered by Nevada, Idaho, and Washington. It is known for its Pacific coastline and the Cascade Mountains, which divide the state into a lush, rainy west and a dry, sparsely populated east. The Cascades are home to inactive volcanoes and Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the U.S. Portland, Oregon's largest city, is a hub for manufacturing and technology. The Columbia River forms a scenic gorge east of Portland. The Willamette Valley, south of Portland, is a key agricultural area producing various crops, including hazelnuts.
