A pro-Western journalist, Pavel Sheremet, was killed in Ukraine by a car bomb. The Ukrainian prosecutor general labeled it a murder, while the interior minister suggested it aimed to destabilize the country. Sheremet worked for Ucraínska Pravda, an independent media outlet with a history of advocating press freedom. Ukraine is currently facing a separatist conflict in the east, which has resulted in significant casualties since the pro-European Maidan uprising in 2014.
