VOICED : Venezuela: Impiden a expresidentes visitar a opositores presos

Former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana and Bolivian Jorge Quiroga attempted to visit jailed opposition leaders in Venezuela but were denied access by the National Guard. They intended to check on the health of a political opponent on a hunger strike. Disappointed, they criticized President Maduro for not respecting human rights and warned of international embarrassment. Their access was also denied to another jailed opposition leader, Daniel Ceballos, who is also on a hunger strike. Both leaders have been detained since 2014 on charges of conspiracy, which the opposition claims are politically motivated.
