On a Wednesday in Bolivia, protests erupted both supporting and opposing President Evo Morales' bid for a fourth consecutive term. These demonstrations occurred two years after a referendum narrowly denied Morales the chance to seek re-election. However, the ruling party secured a decision from the Constitutional Tribunal in November, allowing Morales to run in the 2019 elections. Morales first came to power in 2006 with 54% of the vote and was re-elected twice with similar results. Despite this, a recent survey by Página 7 showed his popularity has dropped to 22%.
