Pennsylvania Catholic Dioceses Will Pay Far More Than $84M To Victims

The Catholic Diocese is expected to grow significantly next year, as reported by The Associated Press. This growth is attributed to the compensation fund administrators who are still processing around 1000 backlogged claims. Since its inception after a grand jury report in 2018, the fund has disbursed nearly $84 million to 564 victims of sexual abuse. The report highlighted that 300 priests across six Catholic Dioceses in Pennsylvania were credibly accused of abusing over 1000 children over several decades. The review of all pending cases is anticipated to extend beyond June 2020.
