Cuba is advancing its COVID-19 vaccination efforts during a severe outbreak. Over 1.3 million people in La Habana have been vaccinated, with the campaign starting in May using the Cuban vaccines Avdala and Soberana 2. Despite progress, La Habana still has the highest COVID-19 rates in the country. Since the pandemic began, Cuba has reported around 400,000 cases and nearly 3,000 deaths. Authorities aim to vaccinate 70% of the population by the end of August.
