Border War 1910-1919 between US and Mexico

In 1916, Carranza faced opposition from rebel leaders Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata. Villa's forces raided Columbus, New Mexico, killing over 15 Americans. The US, led by General Pershing, attempted to capture Villa but failed. Carranza grew concerned about US military presence in Mexico, leading to skirmishes. President Wilson negotiated a settlement, and US troops withdrew in January 1917.
