Krishna, a former trekking guide, is now paralyzed due to tetanus from a minor injury during the quake. The UN estimates 3,000 people suffer permanent disabilities, many preventable with proper follow-up. Organizations like Basnet's and foreign NGOs fill the gaps left by the public health system.
