Pilot Jarecki celebrated after bringing MIG out of Poland; arrives at airport; parade in Chicago

Lieutenant Francis Juretsky, a Polish jet pilot, made headlines by fleeing the Iron Curtain in a Russian MiG-15 and landing in Denmark. Inspired by his actions, UN forces in Korea offered a reward for the first communist pilot to surrender an undamaged MiG. Juretsky, who later participated in a Chicago parade, received no reward but expressed his desire to join the free world and fight against communism.
