Brazilian authorities have significantly increased security measures for the World Cup to prevent disruptions from violent protests. A total of 150,000 security personnel and military will ensure safety during the event. The focus is on preventing and discouraging violent actions while allowing peaceful protests. These statements were made during a security seminar in Florianópolis, attended by 23 of the 32 team coaches. The seminar also covered technical and logistical topics. Last June, massive protests occurred during the Confederations Cup, demanding better public services and criticizing the large investments in the World Cup.
