June 1 Marks 100th Anniversary Of Tulsa Race Massacre

The Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 began with a false accusation against Dick Rowland, a Black man. This led to a violent clash between a white mob and Black residents. On June 1st, thousands of white Tulsans attacked the Greenwood District, destroying homes and businesses and killing up to 300 people. Despite the devastation, the white perpetrators were never convicted, while surviving Black residents faced arrests.
