Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. It became a unitary parliamentary republic after gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, with Bishkek as its capital. The population is mainly ethnic Kyrgyz, with significant Uzbek and Russian communities. Most are nondenominational Muslims, with a minority practicing Russian Orthodoxy. Kyrgyz is the official language, but Russian is widely used. Historically, Kyrgyzstan was part of the Silk Road, influencing its culture. The country is economically challenged, with many relying on remittances. It has rich natural resources, including uranium, mercury, and gold. The geography is dominated by mountains, with a cold climate and significant snowfall. Water systems are crucial for electricity and irrigation, impacting the Aral Sea.
