Liz Truss wins Tory leadership contest

Graham Brady, the returning officer, announced the results of the Conservative and Unionist Party leadership election. Out of 172,437 eligible voters, 82.6% participated. A total of 654 votes were rejected. The valid votes were distributed as follows: Richard Sunak received 60,399 votes, and Liz Truss received 81,326 votes. Consequently, Liz Truss was declared the new leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party.
