New York City Marathon Canceled Amid Coronavirus Fears

The New York City Marathon, scheduled for November 1st, has been canceled due to the pandemic. The decision was made by the New York Road Runners Organization in coordination with the mayor's office, prioritizing health and safety. Mayor Bill de Blasio supported the decision. Last year's marathon had over 53,000 participants, making it the largest in the world. Affected runners can get a refund or free entry to future marathons. Next year's marathon is planned for November 7th, and a virtual race will be held from October 17th to November 1st.
