The storm affected over 10,000 people due to floods and landslides. In Costa Rica, 8 people died, including a 3-year-old, with 17 missing, while Honduras reported 3 deaths and 3 missing. Nate moved towards the Gulf of Mexico, potentially becoming a hurricane and threatening the southern US. This event is part of a destructive Atlantic cyclone season, which included hurricanes Irma, Maria, and Harvey.
