Cave Fire Prompts Mandatory Evacuations In Southern California

The Cave fire began in Los Padres National Forest and quickly spread, burning over 3300 acres in Santa Barbara County. High winds have exacerbated the situation, and firefighters have yet to contain the blaze. While no homes have been destroyed, several buildings are at risk. Santa Barbara County has declared a local emergency and requested a state of emergency from Governor Gavin Newsom, whose office is monitoring the situation.
