VOICED : A home for transgender elderly

Mami Yuli, a transsexual rights campaigner in Indonesia, has opened a shelter for elderly transsexuals, known as 'Warrior'. Despite past challenges, including working as a prostitute, she now advocates for the most vulnerable. Her shelter provides food, shelter, and skill development opportunities. Attitudes in Indonesia are slowly changing, with the government and Catholic Church offering support. However, threats from hardline Islamists persist. Mami Yuli dreams of becoming a human rights commissioner and expanding her shelter to accommodate all of Jakarta's elderly transgender citizens.
