A fish store clerk's second job as an opera singer

Joseph Mordino, a 37-year-old operatic tenor, is the first American to receive a scholarship at La Scala School in Milan. Despite his operatic roles, he works at a New York market between engagements, earning $15 a day. Customers enjoy his presence, but his true passion is opera. Mordino is recognized for his rich tonal quality and has recently performed as Romeo in 'Taming of the Shrew'. He is known for hitting F above high C, humorously noting that the F is not for fish, despite his seafood-selling job.
