A new public transport concept, the Online Electric Vehicle (OLEV), is being tested in South Korea. Unlike traditional electric vehicles, OLEV charges through induction from electrified roads, reducing battery size significantly. The system, developed by the Institute of Science and Technology, is being trialed in Gumi. Despite its eco-friendly and convenient nature, the high cost of $600,000 per vehicle poses a challenge, prompting researchers to focus on cost reduction.
