University Of California System To Gradually Stop Using SAT, ACT Exams

The University of California Board of Regents voted to phase out standardized exams over the next five years. The UC system plans to develop its own test to better align with student preparedness expectations. If unsuccessful, the standardized testing requirement will be eliminated. Critics argue these tests are unfair due to financial barriers. The UC system temporarily suspended the tests for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
