Antoinette Fares, a survivor of the Homs siege, receives a visit from her niece. For two years, she and her brother endured harsh conditions, lacking basic necessities and relying on improvised cultivation and rudimentary stoves for survival. Despite a UN evacuation, many, including the Fares siblings, chose to stay. The siege ended with a historic agreement between the Syrian regime and rebels. The conflict, causing over 146,000 deaths, continues with no resolution in sight, as President Bashar al-Assad seeks re-election amid a divided opposition.
