Fernando Torres, a skilled and audacious footballer, began his career with Atlético de Madrid's youth team. By 14, he had won two Nike Cup tournaments and was named Junior Player of the Year. At 15, he signed his first contract with Atlético, becoming their youngest player and goal scorer. Torres achieved success in youth international tournaments, winning the Algarve tournament and the European under-16 and under-19 championships. He debuted with the Spanish national team at 19, becoming their youngest player, and participated in the European championship and 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
