Judge Rules Migrant Children Must Be Released Due To Coronavirus

Judge Dolly M Gee ordered the release of 124 children from detention centers by mid-July due to COVID-19. The children can be released to suitable sponsors or non-congregate settings with parental consent. This decision aims to curb the virus spread among immigrants, as social distancing is challenging in detention facilities. Nearly 9,000 detainees in ICE custody have been tested, with about 750 testing positive.
