Artist Collaborates with Scientists to Design Robotic Wheelchairs for Interactive Installation

Marie Villonaki's installation, Fishbirds Circle, combines art and robotics. Collaborating with the Australian Centre of Field Robotics, the project uses wheelchairs that follow people and offer printed love letters. The challenge lies in enabling robots to identify and locate people, achieved through a network of heterogeneous sensors. These sensors, including laser scanners and monocular cameras, help determine a subject's height and depth. The project serves as both an artistic performance and a research opportunity, with future exhibitions planned in Austria.
