The Honduran presidential election remains contested as the electoral authorities and the defeated party disagree on the results. The Supreme Electoral Tribunal declared Juan Orlando Hernández the winner with 36% of the votes, while Xiomara Castro received 28%. Castro and her husband, former President Manuel Zelaya, allege fraud and requested a recount of over 16,000 original tally sheets. The tribunal claims the leftist representatives did not attend the scheduled comparison meeting. Meanwhile, Hernández has embarked on a regional tour as the president-elect.
