US Navy's NC-4 Curtiss seaplane in Trepassey Bay, Newfoundland, in 1919

In May 1919, a crew of six Navy men led by Lieutenant Commander Reed made a historic 16-day flight in the NC 4A plane. Although the flight included a stop in the Azore Islands, it marked the first airplane crossing of the Atlantic, setting a significant milestone in aviation history.
