Students Set Record with Battery-Powered Aircraft

A team from the Institute of Technology attempted a record with a lightweight aircraft powered by 160 AA batteries. The plane, piloted by Tomahiro Kamiya, flew 391 meters in 59 seconds, aiming to surpass the Wright brothers' flight distance. This marked the first successful flight of a piloted aircraft using commercially available batteries.
