NASA | Greenland's Mega Canyon

Scientists have discovered a massive canyon beneath Greenland's ice sheet using ice-penetrating radar. The canyon, over 400 miles long and up to half a mile deep, predates the ice sheet. It was found by a team led by the University of Bristol, using data from UK and German airborne campaigns and NASA's Operation Ice Bridge. The canyon extends from Greenland's interior to the Petermann Glacier and may play a crucial role in transporting meltwater to the Arctic Ocean.
