On Friday, at least 20 people were killed in an attack on a Shiite mosque in Kabul. Armed men stormed the mosque during weekly prayers, injuring over 50 people. The Islamic State claimed responsibility, stating the attackers were armed and wore explosive belts. Witnesses reported one attacker detonated himself while three others entered the mosque.
