South African Court Orders Ex-President To Jail For Contempt

Former South African President Jacob Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court after failing to appear for a court-ordered appearance. This is linked to an investigation into corruption during his presidency from 2009 to 2018. Zuma was not present for his sentencing and has five days to surrender. He is the first former president in South African history to be sentenced to prison.
