Miriam, a 13-year-old Syrian girl, had to flee her neighborhood due to bombings and became a refugee in her own city, Aleppo. Her mother encouraged her to keep a diary, which she found comforting. In 2016, a French journalist discovered her 50-page diary, which was later published. It details her experiences, including being forced to leave her home by Islamist rebels in 2013. Now living in a different part of Aleppo, Miriam dreams of becoming an astronomer. Despite her traumatic past, she continues to write in her diary to remember both her past and her new life.
