Hideo Hamamura of Japan wins rainy Boston Marathon in 1955

The 59th annual Boston Marathon featured 160 participants from various countries. Despite the rain, the main challenge was the 26-mile distance. American Nick Costas led initially, but Argentina's Rinaldo Gorno fell behind. In the final miles, Japan's Hideo Hamamura overtook Costas, winning in a record time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds, becoming the Boston Marathon champion.
