The Ancient Codex Sinaiticus: Digitizing History for the World

The Codex Sinaiticus, a 4th-century Greek manuscript, is one of 50 copies commissioned by Emperor Constantine. Originating from the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, it was taken to Germany and Russia in the 19th century by scholar Konstantin Fontischendorf. The British Library acquired it in 1933. Currently, experts from multiple countries are digitizing the Codex to make it accessible online, using advanced technology. This effort will allow millions to view the manuscript, which has been seen by only a few scholars in recent decades.
