Dung Beetles (superfamily Scarabaeoidea) rolling and fighting over dung ball, sequence, Kenya

In an experiment, nearly 4,000 beetles arrive within 15 minutes of dung appearing. An hour later, most dung is buried or dispersed. The most effective method is ball rolling, which must be done quickly to avoid theft. Some beetles carry dung in jawfuls, but ball rolling is more efficient, akin to packing a trunk.
