Following the battles of Lexington and Concord, Boston was quarantined by British forces. The colonial militia, desperate for supplies, captured Fort Ticonderoga, securing cannons and muskets. The Battle of Bunker Hill ensued, where the British won but suffered heavy losses. General Washington then took command, and with the help of Henry Knox, transported cannons from Ticonderoga to Boston, forcing the British to retreat.
