A private supply ship launched by Orbital Sciences Corporation is heading to the International Space Station (ISS) after delays caused by cold weather and a solar storm. The unmanned rocket, launched from Wallops Island, Virginia, carries 1,360 kg of equipment, experiments, and Christmas gifts for the six ISS residents. The spacecraft, named Cygnus, is expected to reach the ISS on Sunday. NASA contracts Orbital Sciences and SpaceX to supply the ISS, as the space shuttle program ended in 2011.
