Residents of an Indonesian village returned home after a volcanic eruption forced their evacuation. The eruption of Mount Kelud spewed ash and volcanic material 18 kilometers high, resulting in four deaths and the evacuation of over 100,000 people. Seven airports were closed, and residents within 10 kilometers of the volcano were moved to temporary shelters. In these shelters, doctors treated people for dizziness and breathing difficulties. Mount Kelud is one of about 130 active volcanoes in Indonesia, where many people live nearby due to the fertile volcanic soil.
